Disposable mobile handset pioneer Hop-On has signed a deal with a London-based distributor. The undisclosed private company will buy at least a million GSM Hop-On handsets a year for over $25 million.
Hop-On will get $1 million upfront, and will also receive a proportion of consumer airtime revenues. The distributor has also agreed to finance the manufacture of the handsets.
The phones will be sold in the UK and Spain, starting in Q4 this year. They work using voice-activated dialing, contain 60 minutes of call time, and currently retail in the US for $29.95.
