The places deals service will start in Germany, France, Spain and Italy as well
Facebook has launched its places deals service Facebook Deals in the UK and five other European countries.
Facebook Deals is a new mobile phone application that allows users to check into shops using their mobile phone to get discounts, in the UK and Europe. The discounts will be shown on Facebook Places as a yellow ticket icon.
The service started in the US last year.
To participate, users need to share their address through their mobile phones.
Other than the UK, the service will be offered in Germany, France, Spain and Italy.
Launch partners include Starbucks, Debenhams, Yo!, Argos, Alton Towers, O2 and Mazda.
Facebook said the service is aimed to offer better services to consumers and stressed that it is not getting any revenue share for the deals.
Facebook’s European vice-president Joanna Shields said, "Over 200 million people use Facebook on their mobile phone. We are now offering businesses the opportunity to connect with people in an entirely new way."
