Mozilla has released the first beta version of Firefox 3.0, its increasingly popular web browser.
The new version is touted as more secure, with antivirus integration with the download manager, better password management and stricter SSL enforcement.
It also is said to have a more flexible set of navigation features, with one-click bookmarking, smart search of bookmarks and history URLs and better file type handling.
While it’s technical still only a beta test version, Mozilla developers say it’s in pretty good shape.
I’ve been running on this ‘developer preview’ for at least 3 months, and have never looked back. I’d even recommend it to my mother, blogged Mozilla developer Mike Beltzner.
