Videogames retailer Game has acquired Gamestation for GBP74 million. The move will add 217 stores to the Group’s portfolio and will enable Game to expand its customer reach across the UK.
The retailer is to keep the branding of both outlets separate, in order to target different customers. Game will continue with its mainstream, mass-market appeal, while Gamestation will pursue its business model of serving the core gamer.
The retailer expects to save GBP7 million per annum by the second full year post completion. This will be achieved through improved efficiency in supply chain and business support functions.
