GSA 7.0 provides Google-quality search for SharePoint 2010
Google has introduced GSA 7.0, the new version of its Search Appliance that is claimed allow enterprises to search content in about 1 billion documents at once offering improved search results.
With GSA 7.0 users can find information stored anywhere in the organisation, whether using a desktop, smartphone or tablet, the company said.
Google said the new appliance will allow users to search to content from social media streams and cloud computing applications to deliver them to smartphones and tablets through browsers.
The new version provides Google-quality search for SharePoint 2010 and requires no manual configuration from administrators.
GSA 7.0 includes assisted navigation makes to refine search results while the Entity Recognition feature automatically identifies and suggests content that user looking for. It also harnesses the ‘wisdom of crowds,’ allowing employees to add their own search results.
Google said GSA 7.0 includes search features such as document preview, view thumbnails and flip through full-screen document previews right alongside search results.
The Google Translate, secure and automatic translations will display in search results, in more than 60 languages. The updated language capabilities, including parsing the complex morphology of Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Korean to improve results.
GSA 7.0’s expert search feature will tap into the organisation’s knowledge graph and collaborate with colleagues who have answers.
The devices also claimed to search more than 220 file formats, including HTML, Microsoft Office, PDF, PostScript, WordPerfect and Lotus.
Google’s new Search Appliance comes with an improved scale, a single rack of GSAs to fit the equivalent of the entire Google.com index in 2000, 1 billion pages.
