Gavitec AG-mobile digit, a manufacturer of easy-to-use code readers for mobile marketing and mobile ticketing, in cooperation with Omniprime, a digital technology provider, has implemented a mobile ticketing system for the Manila Metro Rail Transit System, known as the MRT3, Metrostar, or Metrostar Express.
MRT3 is the main public transportation line in Manila with 200 million passengers each year. The main goal of the innovative mobile ticketing system is to provide instant MRT3 tickets. Passengers receive their passes via text message in the form of a two-dimensional (2D) barcode directly to their mobile phone. Prior to travel, each code is read and validated by Gavitec’s scanners. This system offers a fast and cashless mobile transaction with the capability to reduce long lines of passengers.
