The Green Grid consortium has signed up over two dozen new members, and says it will hold a technical summit next week in Colorado.
The group was founded with the aim of increasing energy efficiency in data centers and computing ecosystems, primarily by publicizing best practices in data center energy management and developing metrics or measures of power consumption and heat generation.
The new members include Cisco Systems, Brocade Communications, Novell, BT, Juniper, Force 10 Networks, Juniper, Pillar Data System, Copan Systems, QLogic and SGI. These add to founding members AMD, APC, Dell, HP, IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Rackable Systems, SprayCool, Sun Microsystems and VMware.
The meeting in Denver, Colorado will discuss the development efficiency measurements and practical guidance for datacenter owners, and is hoped to set objectives and programs for 2007, the Grid said.
