Vincenzo Novari, CEO of Italian 3G license holder H3G, has said that he expects the company will launch its 3G network next September. That is the same month that Hutchison is also planning to launch its 3G network in the UK.
After the summer of 2002, my company will launch the UMTS service in Italy. We have invested a lot and we are preparing to make a big campaign for Christmas 2002, said Mr Novari in an interview with La Repubblica.
Discussing the network rollout, he said that H3G has already started work on 300 base stations and is requesting planning permission for 1000 more, which should enable coverage in 50 cities.
