IBM’s smart business solution suite would run on HTC’s smartphones and tablets
HTC and IBM are collaborating to popularise the Android platform among enterprise users.
It was disclosed by IBM at the Lotusphere conference in Orlando.
Under this alliance, IBM will bring together business centric software and HTC’s forthcoming smartphones.
IBM’s smart business solution suite would run on HTC’s smartphones and tablets.
However, HTC will not be the exclusive Android manufacturer to use this suite of IBM.
But, this would help HTC to leverage on IBM’s business expertise and also allow it to take on Research in Motion’s BlackBerry, which was at one time the most popular device for businesses users, owing to its encryption, secure e-mail systems and private messaging capabilities.
HTC director of Global Enterprise Operations and Strategy Will Ro told eWeek that HTC currently has about 35 applications – some targeted at consumers, some developed with enterprises in-mind – to use the stylus’ strengths.
According to Ro, enterprises can design their own applications for HTC’s tablets, as the company is allying with third-party developers to further extend the tablet’s capabilities.
