IBM Global Services has announced a 10-year, $1 billion outsourcing contract with industrial group Invensys. Under the terms of the deal IBM will provide application management, helpdesk services and support for 29,000 workstations in a dozen countries. Around 600 Invensys IT staff will move to IBM.
The deal with Invensys is IBM’s third major outsourcing contract this year following earlier deals with Nextel and American Express.
Invensys has recently undertaken a restructuring program under which it intends to cut costs and sell-off non-core operations.
