Information Builders Inc added a new OEM dimension to its long-standing relationship with IBM Corp that allows it to embed its flagship WebFocus business intelligence platform into IBM’s System i server platform.
The agreement effectively means that IBM and its network of distributors and partners will now be reselling WebFocus as part of its Licensed Program Product for System i to mid-market and large enterprise customers.
IBM will ship an integrated product later this year.
The OEM deal is part of a renewed focus by New York-based Information Builders to strengthen its channel business. WebFocus should find plenty of opportunities in IBM’s 250,000-strong System i server customer base. IBM confidently predicts 20,000 shipments of WebFocus in the next year.
Information Builders and IBM have partnered closely since 1977 on technical integration and marketing initiatives. IBM’s Global Services division signed a general reseller agreement for WebFocus and Information Builders’ iWay data integration software back in September 2002 that remains in place today. And at the start of this year Information Builders joined IBM’s Advantage ISV initiative for small and medium sized businesses.
