Captaris has announced that the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Agency, part of the Latvian government, is using Captaris RightFax to streamline the process of delivering time-critical forecast and emergency notifications to its customers.
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Agency’s (LEGMA) customers, including the Latvia Defense Forces and Riga International Airport, rely on the agency for timely, accurate data regarding weather forecasts and emergency notices.
Delivering the notifications used to be a complex and time-consuming paper process for the agency’s forecasting experts, who spent up to one hour manually faxing each forecast and then making phone calls to insure receipt at the other end.
Thanks to the new, faster delivery method, LEGMA customers can now react more quickly to essential information, and the agency’s experts can focus more time on their core mission and less time on document busy-work.
The LEGMA employees no longer use fax machines. Instead, they prepare and send forecasts from their PCs, using RightFax to automatically deliver the documents. The RightFax Exchange Module provides each user with a centralized email inbox to send, receive and manage faxes and, upon receipt, an automatic delivery confirmation is returned to the sender’s inbox. Every fax transmission is also archived for future reference.
