Lenovo Inc has recalled 208,000 laptop batteries, over fears they could burst into flames, its second such recall in the last five months.
The company said it was aware of five incidents involving the batteries, without getting to the specifics. Customers can get free replacements.
The batteries, made by Sanyo Electric, were shipped with ThinkPad R60, R60e, T60, T60p, Z60m, Z61e, Z61m, and Z61p Series laptops.
The recall is unrelated to a recall of 526,000 Sony batteries by Lenovo last September. Thankfully for Lenovo’s image, the company had not replaced exploding Sony batteries with exploding Sanyo ones.
