Liberty Broadband Interactive Television, part of the giant Liberty Media group, looks set to acquire Wink Communications, one of the largest interactive television (iTV) providers in the US. The move marks the continuing growth of Liberty Media in interactive content provision.
Liberty and Wink have reached a definitive merger agreement that will see Liberty acquire all outstanding stock of Wink for $3 per share. The deal is subject to approval by both Wink’s shareholders and regulatory authorities.
The deal is expected to go through by the third quarter of 2002. Wink Communications will then become a wholly-owned subsidiary of LBIT, with the existing management team remaining in place.
