The Tanzanian Telecommunications Company Ltd has unsurprisingly awarded Alcatel a contract for the supply of a GSM network. Alcatel has already installed and opened commercially the first phase of the network, in Dar es-Salaam. The contract is believed to be worth $22.52 million to the company.
The network is set to include Prepaid (PPS), a Voice Mail System (VMS), a Short Message Service Centre (SMS-C), Customer Care and Billing System (CCBS) allowing postpaid service. The company will also supply handsets as part of the package.
