Enterprise data security and encryption provider PGP Corporation has announced that Maimonides Medical Center, a non-profit hospital serving the Brooklyn, New York district, has deployed PGP encryption to protect patient and employee privacy.
In dealing with thousands of patients annually, Maimonides collects an enormous amount of sensitive data. The medical center wanted a solution to secure its information, comply with industry regulations, and protect against a costly data breach due to a lost or stolen laptop.
By implementing the PGP Encryption Platform and platform-enabled PGP Whole Disk Encryption and PGP Universal Gateway Email applications, the medical center hopes to benefit from a robust and scalable solution for defending its data.
We looked at a variety of products, but they didn’t offer the scalability of the PGP Encryption Platform, which was very important to us, said Sean Randolph, LAN engineer for Maimonides. The PGP solution had all the features we needed-central management, scalability, effective encryption of laptops and email – so going with the industry leader was the best decision.
