Mediaport Entertainment and Power Music have entered into an agreement to make one million music tracks available to gym customers in the US via MediaATM digital download kiosks.
According to the two companies, the agreement represents a first for the digital music kiosk market. Under the terms of the deal, trials with Mediaport’s MediaATMs are expected to begin in May at several gyms around Utah, and will be expanded to about 300 locations throughout the US over the next 12 months.
The digital download kiosks will provide gym-goers with a range of content for download thanks to Mediaport’s licensing agreements with music label majors such as EMI, Warner Music, SonyBMG and Universal.
The self-service kiosks allow consumers to burn customized CDs or digitally download products such as music tracks, albums and audio books to Plays-For-Sure MP3 players, USB sticks, and mobile phones. Furthermore, there are plans to expand the kiosks’ range of content to include e-books, games, videos, DVDs, ringtones, and software in the future.
