It prevented email users of Microsoft’s email server software from searching their mailboxes.
Microsoft has withdrawn a security update for its Exchange 2013 following reports of content damage upon the installation of latest fix to the email server software.
Reports revealed that the MS13-061 security update for Exchange 2013 affected the message index service, which prevented email users of Microsoft’s email server software from searching their mailboxes.
Upon the installation, the Content Index for mailbox databases displayed as ‘Failed’ on the affected server, while it also renamed the Microsoft Exchange Search Host Controller service.
However, Exchange 2007 and 2010 users are advised to install the patch as it would cause no problems if installed on older versions of Microsoft’s email server software.
MS13-061 will address three vulnerabilities in Microsoft Exchange that arise from bugs in the third-party library Outside In, which is Oracle licensed library.
