Motorola’s case against Paging America drew to an end after a court found the company guilty of fraudulent activity. Paging America had been spamming consumers with fake offers of a free Motorola pager.
The judgment, made in a US district court in Illinois, found the company to be harassing customers and using the Motorola brand name without official consent. The pagers that the company was offering were in fact neither free nor made by Motorola.
The company is to pay Motorola hefty fines for its fraudulent activity, coming in at $100,000 per violation made. Motorola will destroy all the fake advertising and contact the duped customers.
