Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions
Motorola Mobility Holdings said Motorola has split into two independent companies called Motorola Mobility and Motorola Solutions.
Now Motorola Mobility is headed by Sanjay Jha, and the Motorola Solutions will be run by Greg Brown focusing primarily on communications offerings for enterprise.
Motorola Mobility will trade its share in New York Stock Exchange with a symbol MMI. Motorola Mobility is comprised of two global technology businesses – the Mobile Devices business that provides smartphones and the Home business that offers digital set-top boxes and end-to-end video solutions.
Motorola Mobility is expected to leverage the capabilities of both the Mobile Devices and Home businesses to deliver smartphones, tablets, set-tops and other converged devices.
In 2010, the Mobile Devices business launched 23 smartphones including the family of DROID by Motorola devices as well as BRAVO, DEFY, FLIPSIDE, MILESTONE and others.
Motorola Mobility chairman and CEO Sanjay Jha said they are pleased that Motorola Mobility has reached this important milestone. After more than two years of planning, they will begin operating as a financially strong, independent company trading on the New York Stock Exchange.
The Board of Directors for Motorola Mobility includes Sanjay Jha as chairman with Jon E. Barfield, William R. Hambrecht, Keith A. Meister, Thomas J. Meredith, Daniel A. Ninivaggi, James R. Stengel, Anthony J. Vinciquerra and Andrew J. Viterbi as other members.
The Opening Bell at the NYSE will be done by Jha and members of the Motorola Mobility management team in honour of the initiation of trading of Motorola Mobility shares.
