NCH, a children’s charity in the UK, is replacing its two separate HR and payroll systems with web-based software iTrent from MidlandHR.
Founded in 1869 as the Children’s Home and later called National Children’s Home, NCH takes care of 178,000 vulnerable children, young people and families facing difficulties such as poverty, disability and abuse. It has undertaken nearly 500 projects across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. It also supports work in Southern Africa, the Caribbean and Central America.
ITrent will enable NCH automate its HR and payroll functions for 6,500 employees. It will also remove the need to post the same employee information twice in two different systems.
John Appleby, project manager for personnel and payroll system from NCH, said: We realised that having two separate HR and payroll systems was not only time consuming but not the best use of our resources. Having to input information more than once also meant that there was a higher risk of error. Being a web-enabled, single solution will bring us many benefits not least cost reduction; for example, it is a far more cost effective approach to monitoring absence and distributing payslips.
MidlandHR launched iTrent in the UK market in July 2008, to give organisations a tool to manage HR issues such as talent management, succession planning, recruitment and absence management.
The University of Exeter has recently gone live on iTrent’s HR, payroll and training modules. The Law Offices Departments and Epsom and Ewell Council have also implemented the integrated system.
NCH is expected to complete the implementation of the software by December 2009.
