NEC has joined the Multimedia Messaging System Inter Operability Group. The Japanese mobile handset maker is now an associated member of the group that assists and coordinates MMS interoperability testing and problem solving.
The group’s work will help to define open standards with the Third Generation Partnership Project and the Open Mobile Alliance. NEC’s involvement with the group will allow it to present its own MMS solutions to other vendors, this could help NEC to achieve faster interoperable market penetration.
The development of open standard will help by ensuring that applications are interoperable with multiple vendor markets. Interoperability is believed to be necessary to ensure that the mobile sector continues to grow and improve.
