The new president of Nintendo, Satoru Iwata, has outlined how Nintendo intends to compete with Sony and Microsoft in the video games market over the coming years.
The company’s new president stated that Nintendo must take a new and distinctive approach as an entertainment company, focusing predominantly on the creation of new and better games, rather than the development of bigger and more powerful game players. Iwata also said that Nintendo plans to develop more games which link up the Game Boy Advance with the GameCube. Nintendo also intends to further utilize its portfolio of games such as Mario and Zelda, as well as collaborating more with outside games developers.
Iwata recently replaced former Nintendo president Hiroshi Yamauchi, who stepped down after five decades in charge of the company.
