Ovi Music Unlimited service to remain only in six countries
Nokia will terminate its free service of music downloads for mobile phones, Ovi Music Unlimited, in the UK and 26 other countries.
The service allows Nokia mobile phones’ customers to download unlimited music for free. By the end of the year, the service will be discontinued in all but six countries.
While the service will continue to be on a six-month subscription basis in South Africa, Brazil and Turkey, it will be available as a 12-month subscription model in India, China and Indonesia, The Guardian reported.
Nokia spokesperson said that the company is currently working with its partners to deliver new, innovative music services as part of the Ovi experience during 2011.
However, the world’s largest mobile phone manufacturer said this will not affect its Ovi Music Store.
The store, which is available in 38 markets, is a separate service that allows Nokia customers to purchase DRM-free music from online stores.
