Nokia’s infrastructure division, Nokia Networks, is to reduce its workforce by 900. The job losses will mostly be made in the areas of network delivery and maintenance services. The cuts will be completed by the end of the year and will reduce the division’s employee total to around 18,100.
The reductions are being made to address the current business environment and the challenges of the future. Nokia Networks has seen its business decline: in Q2, profits fell 43% on the previous year to $157 million.
The job losses will vary between countries, depending on requirements. Nokia did not say whether further reductions are planned.
