Nokia has finally delivered its color screen handset. The Finnish mobile giant has introduced its 7650 phone in its native country and some selected European countries.
The company has been trailing behind competitors such as Ericsson and Samsung, both of which already have color screen phones on the market. However Nokia has a secret weapon – the company is hoping that its phone will prove popular because unlike the others, it has a built-in camera. At present, other color phones on the market in Europe have cameras but only as additional add-ons, which can be expensive.
The built-in camera is not the only bonus. The 7650 will also support multimedia messaging (MMS), carrying data to and from the phone via the GPRS network. If the phone proves popular, then it could also encourage new content that utilizes the phones technologies.
The phone is expected to retail at GBP520. Nokia hopes that this phone will help to boost revenues in a slow market.
