mmO2’s Dutch unit has reported substantial growth over the last year. As a result, the company now claims to be the third largest mobile operator in the Netherlands.
Its client numbers increased by 58% to 1.26 million. The growth was helped by the mobile banking action it launched with Postbank, which added 475,000 clients. However, numbers decreased by 46,000 in Q4, which the company is attributing to fierce competition.
The Dutch subsidiary is still making a loss. It made losses of E80 million before taxes and write offs, in the year ending March 31, 2002. Revenues reached E310 million, up 75% on the previous year.
