OMV has announced plans to open a new network of custom-made filling stations to fit the requirements of transport companies. This move will form part of the central European oil and gas firm’s plan to expand its operations within the commercial road transport industry.
By 2010, OMV aims to double its diesel sales to the transport industry from approximately 800 kilotons (kt) currently to more than 1,600kt and, therefore, to increase its share of the commercial road transport market to 20%.
In order to achieve this, OMV has opted to open a new, unmanned network of OMV EuroTruck filling stations, custom-made to fit the requirements of Europe’s transport businesses.
The first three filling stations, operating under the OMV EuroTruck brand, have already been opened in Austria, and, by 2009, OMV plans to expand the network to 45 OMV EuroTruck filling stations along the main central European transport routes. This year, five additional OMV EuroTruck filling stations will begin operating in Austria, four in the Czech Republic and five in Slovenia.
As well as fuel, the OMV EuroTruck product and service package also offer the transport industry various services for the management of vehicle fleets and routing, the company said.
Among these services is the OMV EuroTruck Card, which allows for cashless payments, and can be used at the entire OMV filling stations network, as well as at more than 300 Routex4Truck-stations in 30 European countries. Tolls and road charges can also be paid with the card.
In 2007, payment terminals at OMV EuroTruck filling stations in the Czech Republic will have an online connection to OMV, which will enable the company to quickly put a stop to potential misuse of the OMV EuroTruck Card. In 2009, all OMV EuroTruck filling stations will have an online connection.
OMV will also be offering its OMV EuroTruck Fleet Online tool, which helps optimize the management of vehicle fleets. Using the tool, customers can manage transactions carried out with the filling station card centrally. In order to reduce administrative effort, customers receive a transparent collective invoice with all individual transactions listed.
