Spanish telecoms operators have been speaking out about their opinion on sharing networks and possible new entrants into the market. At a recent telecoms conference, Telefonica Moviles, Xfera and Amena representatives said that sharing networks could be beneficial to both the operators as well as their customers.
Sharing wireless infrastructure could reduce costs for operators – the expense of network expansion not only stings the operators themselves, but ultimately leads to higher bills for the consumer. Through the sharing of networks, phone bills could be kept to a minimum.
All three operators said they would welcome any new entrants offering unique services into the market. They were however weary of virtual network operators making revenues solely through reselling as this type of practice can cripple businesses and provide no further depth to the market.
