Mobile operator Orange and eCommerce company Lastminute.com plan to team up in the mobile commerce sphere. The alliance will give Orange UK’s 12.6 million customers access to Lastminute’s late deal offers. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Orange mobile users will soon be able to buy flights, holidays and other leisure products and services through Lastminute over their mobile. The time-critical nature of Lastminute’s products may well make them more suited to mobile purchase than other goods.
The companies also plan to investigate future areas of collaboration, such as GPRS and location-based offerings. Mobile commerce is now becoming a reality, says Orange’s Ben Hirsch.
