Orange has guaranteed that its GPRS services will be available before the end of March 2002. The mobile network operator has given the guarantee to business customers in the UK and several other European countries.
Individual customers will have to be patient. They will have to wait until the mass-market launch, which will follow around three months later.
In the UK, Orange is lagging behind several of its rivals when it comes to rolling out GPRS networks. Vodafone and mmO2 launched their customer services in 2001. GPRS offers significantly faster data transfer rates, making it easier for users to access the Internet though their mobile phone.
