Online payment company PayPal is to allow payments in euros and UK pounds from October. The company, which is in the process of being acquired by eBay, also plans to introduce support for other currencies over the next few months.
PayPal operates a payment system allowing customers to transfer money online, with transactions being charged to the user’s bank account or credit card. The payment system is used primarily for online auctions.
Despite only currently accepting US dollars, Paypal already has a large international user base, with around 25% of transactions involving at lease one party outside the US.
