Release 1.3 includes a camera control feature to remotely control the camera on the other end of a video meeting
Unified communications firm Polycom has upgraded its mobile video software portfolio with RealPresence Mobile 1.3 which will be available in additional devices including HTC One S, HTC One X, and HTC Jetstream tablet, along with the new Apple iPad.
RealPresence Mobile 1.3 has a camera control feature to remotely control the camera on the other end of a video meeting allowing users to zoom in, pan or tilt the camera to get a better look at the subject or the environment.
The new camera feature will be useful in many vertical market applications such as healthcare, educational settings and manufacturing plant.
RealPresence Mobile lets customers extend the use of video collaboration beyond the conference room to connect with other standards-based video environments virtually anywhere in the world, the company said.
The user interface of RealPresence Mobile also allows users to simultaneously view content, such as presentations, in high-quality during video sessions.
Polycom has also introduced new enhancements to its RealPresence Platform, the infrastructure that powers RealPresence Mobile, to boost scalability 100 % to support up to 10,000 devices simultaneously.
Orlando Health, a provider of healthcare services in central Florida, is utilising RealPresence Mobile to help connect doctors with patients.
Orlando Health Business Development and Innovation director Carlos Carrasco said Polycom RealPresence Mobile enables the doctors to conduct video consultations from anywhere that they are able to access the Internet.
"The far-end camera control has proven to be very easy to use, and a great feature that lets the doctors who are in a remote location control the view of the patient," Carrasco said.
