Peer-to-peer application developer Raketu Communications has launched a Voice over IP application for BlackBerry users. The New York-based company said the application will enable BlackBerry users to make international calls at VoIP rates as well as send text messages and emails.
Raketu said the application will be available for BlackBerry Curve, BlackBerry 8800 Series, and BlackBerry Pearl through a web-based platform. It said users can sign up to access the service at Blackberry.raketu.com and will not need to download any software.
Raketu said it will charge $9.95, $24.95, or $49.95 to access the service, and will provide up to 600 free calling minutes per month.
Last month, the company introduced a web application for making international calls using Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch at VoIP rates or free of charge.
