COMPANY PRESS RELEASE: Ramtron International Corporation subsidiary, Enhanced Memory Systems and Cypress Semiconductor have agreed to develop an expanded family of network communications memory products based on Enhanced Memory Systems’ patented one-transistor ESRAM memory technology.
ESRAM achieves the same speed, four times higher density, and four times lower power than traditional six-transistor SRAM. The new agreement follows the recent announcement of the 72Mb NoBL (No Bus LatencyTM) burst SRAM family jointly developed by the companies. The 72Mb NoBL is the world’s highest-density SRAM product.
We are pleased to expand our joint development relationship with Cypress to include additional high-performance ESRAM memory products, said David Bondurant, vice-president of marketing for Enhanced Memory Systems. These new products will continue to set a leading price/performance standard for network communications memory.
This cooperative work between two technology innovators will help Cypress build on its leadership in the networking communications memory market, said Mario Martinez, strategic director of Cypress’s Memory Products Division. The memory products our companies are developing will expand our one-transistor SRAM products in the communications market.
In October 2001, Cypress and Enhanced announced their 72 Mb NoBL burst SRAM product family. The products are pin, function, and timing compatible with Cypress NoBL SRAM products, making them ideal upgrades in network systems that require larger SRAM buffer memories.
