UK based accountancy software firm, The Sage Group, has objected to Microsoft’s proposed takeover of the Danish business software firm, Navision. Sage’s lawyers are said to be currently preparing a case to be brought before the Danish competition authorities. The company is also planning to lodge its objections with competition authorities in Germany, France and the UK.
Sage fears that the takeover will mean Microsoft may incorporate Navision software into larger software suites, leading to reductions in price and a lack of competition. Senior executives at Sage claim that a similar scenario followed Microsoft’s takeover of Great Plains in the US.
Navision currently has a 57% share of the Danish business software market.
