Samsung Electronics has announced that it has developed a new flat panel X-ray system, using thin-film transistor technology, to improve diagnostic process by delivering sharper images.
Samsung has collaborated with Korea-based Vatech, a medical machinery manufacturing firm, in the development of this new technology. The company claims that the new technology, which eliminates X-ray film development process, can deliver high-definition images and save money and time.
Yoon Jin-hyuk, executive vice president of Samsung and chief of the mobile LCD division at Samsung Electronics LCD, said: The analogue film camera market almost completely switched over to digital cameras within a decade. The X-ray detector market should move even faster and become completely digitized within a few years.
