ScholarOne, a Thomson business, a provider of electronic workflow solutions, has been awarded two patents from the US Patent and Trademark Office for business processes related to managing and reviewing documents – the backbone of its innovative web-based solutions, including Manuscript Central, Abstract Central and Proceedings Central.
The two patents, United States Patent 7,257,767 (‘System and method for publishing documents’) and United States Patent 7,263,655 (‘System and method for publishing manuscripts’) were issued in August 2007.
Manuscript Central is an innovative, web-based, database-driven peer review and online submission program for scholarly publishers. Manuscript Central automates manuscript submission to journals and allows for easy administrative, editing and reviewing capabilities, so its customers can focus on content, not on process. With more than 180 societies and publishers, 2,400 books and journals, 70,000 monthly submissions and 5 million registered users.
Abstract Central is a web-based application designed to provide meetings with secure, complete, cost-effective solutions for abstract submission, peer review, program creation, publishing output and administrative control. Proceedings Central complements Abstract Central by supporting the submission of abstracts and full papers for conference proceedings.
