Siemens has said that it is looking into the possibility of offering CDMA mobile technology, a challenger to GSM/GPRS. CDMA is the most popular network technology in the US and South Korea.
Although the Germany firm would like to offer the service, it also says that is not looking to develop the technology itself. It has enough R&D on its plate with GSM/GPRS and UMTS (3G) development.
Conveniently, Motorola is also looking for a firm to partner it in its mobile infrastructure business – and its strongest point is its CDMA technology. However, neither party has yet commented on such a possibility.
