Sales of new tablet begun on 07 September 2012
Japanese electronics firm Sony has halted the sales of its newly launched Xperia tablet following reports of low water resistance in some devices which the company claimed to be water resistant.
According to the firm, the discovery is result of a manufacturing flaw, responsible for creation of gap between the tablet’s screen and the case, which made several tablets vulnerable to water damage.
Sony, which launched sales of new tablet on 7 September 2012, had shipped nearly 100,000 of the tablets.
The electronics firm has not yet decided regarding the resumption of sales of its tablets.
Powered by Google’s Android operating system, the Sony’s new tablet was launched as a competitor to Apple’s iPad.
Weighing at 1.26lbs along with a display of 1280 x 800 resolution, the tablet, has been onsale at a price range between $400 and $600 as per the storage capacity that range between 16 GB and 64 GB.
