Californian security software manufacturer Symantec has agreed a $20 million deal to acquire Mountain View, a supplier of enterprise security management software. The deal represents Symantec’s tenth acquisition in the last four years. Symantec’s acquisition of Mountain Wave is a relatively small deal when compared with the company’s purchase of Axent for $1 billion in July 2000.
Symantec will now own the rights to Mountain Wave’s CyberWolf technology, which automates the detection of security problems. The company plans to incorporate Mountain Wave’s CyberWolf technology into its enterprise security solutions products, which are used by businesses.
