Deutsche Telekom’s mobile unit T-Mobile has announced subscriber figures for Q4 2001. Its US unit VoiceStream attracted 668,000 new customers. The company also gained 526,000 new subscribers in Germany and another 493,000 for its UK subsidiary, One2One.
T-Mobile now has 67 million subscribers in total, including seven million VoiceStream customers and 10.4 million One2One users. Much of One2One’s growth was due to the success of Virgin Mobile, which is jointly owned by T-Mobile and Virgin Group and uses One2One’s network infrastructure. It signed up 260,000 subscribers in Q4.
The results were towards the top end of market expectations, leaving Deutsche Telekom’s shares 2.9% higher.
