COMPANY PRESS RELEASE: Tektronix a leading manufacturer of test, measurement and monitoring solutions, has announced it has signed an agreement with IBM to deploy IBM’s next-generation 0.18um silicon germanium (SiGe) technology into Tektronix test instrumentation used by customers advancing the future in electronics.
Tektronix was the first test and measurement company to adopt IBM’s 0.5um SiGe technology, setting a new precedent in product performance for the electronics design market with the introduction of its award-winning TDS7404 Digital Phosphor Oscilloscope in June 2000.
In the eighteen months since that introduction, Tektronix has leveraged the technology into additional products including the award-winning WFM700, a family of flexible, multi-format waveform monitors introduced in April 2001 and the world’s first fully digital optical jitter measurement tool, the Tektronix OTS9200 Jitter Analysis Module in January 2002. In addition, Tektronix introduced its second generation SiGe oscilloscope, the TDS6604 in January 2002 and plans to introduce its third generation of 0.5um SiGe designs into test equipment in 2003.
Our work with Tektronix is beneficial to both parties as it has allowed us to stretch the bounds of SiGe technology, while satisfying the needs of Tektronix’ customers, said Scottie Ginn, Vice President, Pervasive Computing Technology, IBM Microelectronics. Our combined technical expertise positions us to improve SiGe for many applications, resulting in superior technology products that enable designers to quickly address their time to market challenges.
We are pleased to continue our long-standing affiliation with IBM, the respected innovator of SiGe technology. IBM brings a wealth of experience in working with other early access developers as well as solid manufacturing capabilities, that create the foundation of our long-term technology relationship, said Rick Wills, Chairman and CEO, Tektronix. With the ability to push to even higher performance and integration levels, IBM’s next generation SiGe technology combined with Tektronix’ test and measurement solutions, will enable Tektronix to continue to set new standards of performance in test instrumentation as our customers have come to expect.
