Startup Terascala Inc has closed a $3m round of funding from Ascent Venture Partners and unveiled plans to launch a new Linux cluster architecture for high-performance computing environments.
This is the first funding that the Avon, Massachusetts-based company has scored. The capital will be directed at sales and marketing and boost its manufacturing capabilities.
The company also said it is ready to release a commercial version of its Linux clustered blade system which is currently in beta phase. The system combines high-density and power efficiency for computing and storage in a common architecture.
The company did specify a date when the product would be released.
Both of Terascala’s founders have strong backgrounds in Ethernet clustering and cable interconnect technologies.
