The startup’s team will move to San Francisco
Twitter has acquired Summify, a Canada-based social news aggregation start-up, continuing its recent trend of acquiring small start-ups.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed.
The Summify team will join the Twitter office in San Francisco and its products will slowly be shuttered and streamlined.
Twitter spokeswoman Carolyn Pennersaid Cristian, Mircea and their team of three engineers will join Twitter’s growth team and explore ways to help people connect and engage with relevant, timely news.
Earlier in December, Twitter launched its sitewide redesign, with the goal to broaden its user base, well aware that the interface is not too user-friendly.
Google and Facebook use their own algorithms for the same purpose.
As people are signing to keep updated through Twitter, the company hopes Summify will give it an edge in order to connect with the most relevant news in an efficient way.
Twitter had earlier acquired mobile security firm Whisper Systems, to enhance security of its mobile services.
