Downloading apps among popular mobile online activity
The UK teens topped other European countries in the usage of mobile phones to go online, a research report by online ratings firm Nielsen revealed.
"Among European youth, those in the UK are more likely to use mobile Internet, with over 20 per cent more usage than other European countries," read the report that compared figures between Q2 2009 and Q2 2010 across 19 countries across the world.
The UK teens, however, lag behind those in China and the US, the report titled "Mobile Youth Around The World" said. Around 84% of youngsters in China and 83% of youths in the US use mobile Internet.
Among the most popular teen online activities on the mobile phones include downloading ringtones, apps, games, e-mailing friends and visiting social networking sites.
Three out of four those who were surveyed said they had downloaded an app in the past month.
Nearly 46% of UK mobile users aged 15-24 had used the mobile Internet within the past 30 days when the survey was conducted.
