US operator Verizon Wireless is to introduce a flat-rate billing plan for its wireless data network. The company is hoping that the new payment method will prove more attractive to enterprise customers.
Firms have been reluctant to use Verizon’s Express Network, as each minute’s use of the data network is taken off the customer’s calling plan. Verizon is addressing this problem by introducing a $99.99 monthly plan that permits unlimited data downloads on its Express Network.
The Express Network provides data transmission speeds of between 40-60 kbps, although Verizon claims that it is enable to reach 144 kbps in bursts. The company has also announced that it will expand data service availability to 29 additional markets in the US.
