Virgin Mobile connected its two millionth subscriber during Q3 2002. The company also reported a rise in revenue, reaching $118 million. In Q2 the company achieved revenues of $103 million. Year on year the results were also up for Q3 2001 revenues reached only $73 million. Full year revenues are forecast to hit around the $400 million mark. Virgin hopes to have 2.25 million customers by the year-end.
Virgin boasts the growth in its customer acquisition since Virgin Mobile ‘s launch in 1999 has been unparalleled in comparison to the figures from other network operators. The company claims that Orange reached the two million customer mark after four years of operating, while Vodafone and O2 reached the same figure approximately ten years after launch. Of course this comparison is slightly tenuous since mobile phone market conditions have changed dramatically since then.
