Vodafone, the world’s largest mobile operator, will raise its stake in China Mobile to 1.1%. Vodafone will invest a further $750 million on top of the $2.5 billion it injected 15 months ago.
Vodafone believes that by increasing its holding, the relationship between the two telecoms giants will be developed further.
China Mobile has the fastest growing subscriber numbers of any mobile operator in the world at present. It has been estimated that the company adds five million customers to its base per month – so it’s easy to see why Vodafone may want a finger in that pie.
