Vodafone is to offer its UK customers the ability to top up their mobile phone credit through cash machines. LINK Interchange Network, which runs the UK’s LINK ATM network has signed a contract with Vodafone to provide the top up service.
While Vodafone is the first operator to secure an agreement, other operators are expected to follow suit. Link is optimistic about the service and envisages a time when customers of any network will be able to use a LINK machine at any time to top up their mobiles.
For Vodafone the agreement is another step towards its aim of having 50% of top ups performed electronically by the end of 2003. The new payment service will also give customers further convenience when topping up their credit.
